Become the Dragon

Dragon World is the game where you don't ride the dragon. You become the dragon.

Not a mount. Not a monster. Not someone's weapon.

A powerful creature, proud, semi-divine force of nature with your own insticts and personality. But you are heavily outnumbered. And humanity, led by the fanatics hunts your kind, seeking to chain and exploit your power.

You refuse to become prey! You must to carve your own path through the world.

There are no invisible flight rails, arcade helpers or simplified controls. Your body has weight. Every wingbeat matters. You hear the wind rushing past your horns, and the sky itself can become your greatest enemy.

Master the skies. Outsmart your enemies. Find your place between the infinite Sky and the crushing depths of the Ocean.

The final game will take you into a living world where your dragon will explore, grow, form friendships, defend its territory and become part of legends.

CURRENT BUILD: Combat Flight Test (v1.0 - Arena Survival)

Before we let you explore the wider open world, you must learn how to survive in it. This playable Alpha is a high-intensity Vertical Slice designed to test our core physics, aerodynamics, and combat systems under pressure.

What is already in this build:

  • True Physics: Lift, drag, stalling, and momentum are fully calculated. Your roll, pitch, and dive are purely Aerodynamical.
  • 100-meters waves, 4-kilometer rifts of light and lightning striking from everywhere. Survive against the Nature or make it your ally.
  • The Nemesis Chase:  A brutal, unscripted 1v1 survive against an aggressive dragon under the Order's control. You cannot outrun him; you must outsmart him.

What is planned for Dragon World:

  • An open world. A story campaign.
  • MP,  co-op, teamplay.
  • The final progression system. The finished cinematic UI.

Developer Note
This is a raw technical playtest focused on physics and combat. You can select peaceful fly. But if you select troubles, you will crash. You will die. Frequently. That's part of learning the World.

🕹️ Quick Controls Guide

Learning to control him is part of the experience. If you struggle during your first flights:

  • Read the Pause Menu for gameplay tips.
  • Check the Controls menu.
  • And open Readme.txt file inside the folder.

Otherwise, you’ll get eaten within the first 10 seconds. You’ve been warned!

Why is the game's download through a mega, or drive download?  It should just be available right through itchio.  That seems.. sketchy, to say the least.

Good point.

I'm using external hosting for now simply because the build is quite large, itchio doesnt give more space and I'm still figuring out the best distribution workflow. As the project grows, I'd like to make downloading as straightforward as possible.

Thanks for pointing it out!

Looks nice, works great on Linux.

I think some of the controls are not working yet, e.g. space, alt, C... At least I couldn't get them to do anything meaningful.

I found the "beat the storm" quest to be exremely difficult to complete in due time because of the waves.

I'm not sure how to "stabilize" the dragon, e.g. if I make a turn, it'll just keep flying sideways. Maybe there's something I don't know.

Oh, Thanks for testing it on Linux! That's really valuable to know.

Regarding the controls:

• Yes, C is for landing, Alt works with zero thrust (both options are blocked in the current build). Use Space + Shift. It is boosted flap and it allows you to fly faster (if you have stamina enough).

• For the stabilization use Q/E. This will roll you along the longitudinal axis. The physics model uses "roll-to-turn". Stabilization is intentionally physics-based rather than automatic, but if multiple players find it confusing I'll definitely will add more of tutorial phases.

Yeah, "Beat the Storm" is brutal. And this is only the first phase in the Arena-mode.)

Dev: if you want the dragon to fly further, leave your comments ;)

is this image made with ai?????
nvm it clearly is. please do not use ai man... you have the ability to use in game assets and edit the photo to look similar to this slop. use of ai often makes ppl lose respect, and see things as cheap and low effort, making us wonder where else may you put little effort?
